Day 1: Arrive Seward via Alaska Railroad (please reserve at their website), rent a car or Personal Anchorage Airport pickup (add $60 each, min 4 persons). Settle into Alaska life and your private lodge accommodations at Fish Whisperer Lodge. Visit Seward Marina and see how the fleet is doing. There are three dinner options for Day 1: Pick and pay your own local restaurant; enjoy a home cooked Alaskan meal featuring fresh seafood at the lodge (add $25 each); or make use of the gourmet kitchen after a visit to Safeway.

Night 1: Enjoy the comfort of your private 4+ bedroom lodge with cable TV, free internet access, full kitchen, monster BBQ, outdoor fire pit, 2 bathrooms and laundry.

Day 2: Make or bring your own breakfast, or enjoy a big, hot one at the lodge (add $15 each) before a 7:00 am lodge departure for 5 minute ride to the Marina. Board our flagship, the 33’ Alaskan Sportfisher Carolyn for the trip out to Montague Island and remote Prince William Sound / Gulf of Alaska waters which are not fished by the regular Alaska fishing charters fleet. Fish all day for trophy halibut, king salmon, lingcod, silver salmon and other species (depending on the dates of your trip) before motoring to the Port Ashton Lodge for the night.

Night 2: While the crew fillet and stow the day’s catch, you’ll get clean and comfortable at either the Port Ashton’s Beach House (6 person) or Private Cabin (4-5 person) and have the crew help prepare a fresh hot dinner from supplies brought aboard or option for the Full Service upgrade of 3 full gourmet meals prepared for you (including a spectacular picnic lunch to-go the next day) for an additional $150 each.

Day 3: Breakfast around 6:30 am (either catered or crew-assisted, depending upon package) and a 7:30 am departure for the trophy fishing grounds nearby. This day will again provide access to relatively untouched waters where trophies are common and remote, protected water can be fished. The day will end with a scenic cruise back through the Gulf of Alaska and landing in Seward where your fillets will be processed and ready for pick-up or overnight shipment from J-Dock Seafoods (or option another day fishing and night at Port Ashton, please see notes).

Night 3: Fish Whisperer Lodge. Get ready for a large dinner to replenish calories and store some up some new ones for tomorrow’s trip on the river (again, meal choices include either Seward restaurant, CYO cook-your-own or lodge prepared at $25 each). Do a quick load of laundry, grab a hot shower, relax with some baseball on the tele, or check your emails… evening cocktails at the fire pit are a popular ending to Day 3 although get some rest, the Suburban leaves at 4:30 am for the river.

Day 4: Full-Day guided Alaska fishing on the Kasilof River for King or Silver salmon. We’ll get you aboard our professionally outfitted four-man drift boat(s) for an unbelievable float down one of the best salmon river in the state. This is truly a unique experience and whatever you do, don’t forget your cameras. Trips normally end between 2-3 pm, in time for us to get you to your Ninilchick cabin where you’ll eat, sleep and be merry until the Kenai River trip in the am.

Night 4: Stretch out and relax at your private cabin in Ninilchik/Deep Creek while your catch is processed and prepare your dinner or visit one of several great local restaurants. Departure time for your Kenai trip is 5:15 am so try not to close down the bars!

Day 5: Early breakfast is available as well as a boxed lunch for your day on Alaska’s most famous Trophy King salmon water. As you board our 50-hp custom Kenai boat, have your camera ready for the short ride to the fishing holes as almost daily we spot moose, bear and eagles on the shore of this turquoise colored stream. Depending on the timing of your trip, king salmon, sockeye (red) salmon, silver salmon, and gargantuan rainbow trout are available. Reverse transfer Seward to Anchorage available at the end of Day 5.

 Alaska Fishing Charters

King Salmon –

Mature Kings (25-60+ lbs) show up in force from mid-May through early July in the saltwaters of the North Gulf Coast.  Additionally, there are nice-sized (10-25 lb) feeder Chinook (Kings) in Resurrection Bay all year long.

Silver Salmon –

The Seward area is the most productive saltwater silver area in the state and quite possibly the world.  Limits are 6 a day in the Bay and 3 outside.  From July through September expect doubles and triples at times with nets-a-flailin’.

Halibut –

Or “Butt-Fish” as they are affectionately called, are available all summer long and then some.  We pride ourselves in the quality of fish brought aboard for take home fare (20-80 lb average), however we break triple digits almost daily and those guests receive a spent shotshell as remembrance of a job well done.

Lingcod –

Preferred by many as the favorite fish for grilling (succulent and flaky), Ling fishing opens on July 1st.  Lings are caught jigging on offshore ledges and pinnacles and often as bonus fish while sitting on the rockpiles for halibut.

Yelloweye –

The Carolyn caught more trophy class Yelloweye (over 18 lbs) than any other Seward area charterboat in 2007.  Let’s keep up the tradition and we’ll be happy to sign and validate your Alaska State Trophy certificate. Available all summer.

Black Bass –

These poor guys get no respect, but they do deserve it at the table.  If you can get your bass in the boat before a Ling munches it, well you’ve got yourself a treat.  Liberal limits and the best Fish n’ Chips on the planet all summer long.
